The PETRIFIED FOREST and PAINTED DESERT As part of our "well the car broke, lets do something while we are stuck here" adventure, we decided to visit these natural wonders. We made a wrong turn somewhere, and ended up taking a very long way around to get to the park, but it was all beautiful. We brought back a lot of petrified wood, not from the park, where it is illegal to collect, but from the sides of the roads in the area, where it is a very common rock. This is an absolute must-see if you are planning a trip to the American Southwest. |
